"Better Off Dad" is Jaimee Harris and her dad. We live outside of Waco, Texas...and we play live as an acoustic duo, mostly in Dallas. Jaimee is 18 now. Dad is...older.

We began gigging on the weekends at various venues throughout Texas in late 2004, and we're having a lot of fun with it. We've recorded three full length CD's, and unlike all of "Dad's" previous efforts, these actually sell.

Jaimee's my daughter, so I'm biased, but I think she has a lot of talent, and it's been a thrill to see her grow as a musician and an artist over the past couple of years. Most of our stuff is recorded as we write it (with much assistance from generous and talented musicians from various places around the internet). Our live shows consist of just the two of us with guitars, but we wanted to do more with the recordings.

More than anything, this project is an opportunity to spend time with my daughter, and to teach her what I know (good and bad) about music and the business thereof and about what's REALLY required for people who want to do it full-time. I haven't scared her off yet, but there's still time.

There's a video of us playing a show on YouTube.  Let's see if I can figure out how to link that.  VIDEO

So the main purpose of this site is just to showcase some of our music.  We've recorded 3 full length CD's, most of which we sell from the front of the stage.  I know that a lot of people use the internet to sell CD's, but we'd rather sell you a CD at a show than on the internet.  However, if you live in Australia, we probably won't be seeing you at a show anytime soon, so feel free to download the songs you like and share them with friends.  We can't just give away CD's because they cost too much and shipping is a factor too.  But it costs very little for us to host this site, so there ya' go.

However, if you wanna' buy a shirt or something, I think we'll have a merchandise section in the not too distant future...anything you can and want to do to support indie music (and my daughter, specifically) is appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by, and if you like what you hear, send us an email.
